What is your favorite Stephen King movie?
Stephen King has been my inspiration for almost everything in my life. When times got tough as a kid, I resorted to burying myself in a fictional world created by Stephen King. He is probably single-handedly responsible for helping me become this creatively deranged individual I am today. He is one of the best selling authors of all time, if not THE best. He has had more movie adaptions from his works than anyone else in the history of film. While some of his adaptions often come up weak and short, others shine as masterpieces. He is known as being the King of Horror, but he has seen big success with non-horror as well with Stand by Me, The Green Mile, and Shawshank redemption.
I'm calling out to my fellow bloggers, and readers to find out what everyone else's favorite Stephen King film is of all time. I'm going to compile a list at the end of the week and then have a Top 10 Stephen King films list by bloggers and movie fans everywhere. I am really excited for this article, as he is an important part of my life. I am also asking this on my facebook, so please try to only cast your vote once on one or the other to keep it as accurate as possible. Thank you to all, and I can't wait to see the results!

The Shining, one of my all time fave movies.
"Come and play with us, Danny...forever...and ever...and ever..."
Dreaded Dreams
Petunia Scareum
GRAVEYARD SHIFT. Such a fun B-pic and such a fabulous performance by Brad Dourif. There are "better" King adaptations, but this one is my version of awesome cinematic comfort food.
I have to go with SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, which is still one of the most perfect movie-going experiences of my life. Mad love for CARRIE, SHINING, DEAD ZONE, STAND BY ME, yes, but SHAWSHANK has turned into one of the most beloved films of all time. As someone who first read the novella in the mid-1980s and always dreamed of a movie adaptation, this surprises me... not at all.
Carrie
Oddly enough, I've always been partial to THE NIGHT FLIER. There's just something about the mood and atmosphere of that film, coupled with Miguel Ferrer's wonderful sarcastic, cynical take on his character.
Great stuff people!!! I am getting such a variety! Just goes to show how amazing Stephen King actually is.
I'm also a crazy Stephen King fan. I started reading his books in the fourth grade after I read all the age-appropriate books in my school's library. I, too, have been incredibly influenced by King.
This one is tough, but I'd probably have to say The Stand. That likely won't be the popular vote, but I love that movie. I did a five-part review on it when I was home sick from work earlier this year.
That's my official vote, but I also love Pet Semetary, Maximum Overdrive, and of course, The Shawshank Redemption.
My initial thoughts are to always go to The Shining (Kubrick)because, of all the Stephen King 'inspired' films, that is by far the best. But it is also so drastically different from the book and the author has distanced himself from it that, well, I can't put it on the list.
So I'd have to go with Stand By Me. Running Man is a sentimental close second!

Secure Immaturity
Im going to have to go with The Shinning, a perfect horror film in my book.
But I also enjoy:
Creepshow because it was King in collaboration with Romero.
The Langoliers, the idea creeped me the hell out! People that were stuck in the past, and creatures that eat up the past coming to get them? Spooky!
Pet Semetary: I think I would put this one in second place as my favorite one, because its one of his spookiest tales...and that evil little kid? Creep me the hell out!
THE NIGHT FLIER! It's a modern twist on the classic vampire tale and WAY better than any of the vampire crap that has come out in the past ten years. Also I love how the main character works for some trashy "Weekly World News" magazine. *Sigh* I miss the 90's...
Oh and i like SOMETIMES THEY COMEBACK and STAND BY ME.

I can't not pick Shawshank. Shining and Mist are close, but to me it has to be the tale of Andy Dufresne.
Misery!! Can't believe no one said that yet. A wonderful adaptation, but also just a really good and creepy movie on its own. I also have a thing for Sometimes They Come Back, and definitely Pet Sematary. Directed by a chick! How can you not love that?
